Last Rites for Jack Williamson, County Pioneer 1951
Funeral services for Jonse Wade (Jack) Williamson, 83, well known Santa Cruz
pioneer, were held Wednesday afternoon at Patagonia Community Church with
Rev. David Beal of the First Baptist Church, Nogales, officiating. Burial was made
in the family plot of Black Oak Cemetery, Canille. Mr. Williamson, who had lived in
Nogales since 1945, came to the Mowry Mine area in 1906 and was connected
with mining interests until 1915, when he and his family homesteaded the
Grand View Ranch in San Rafael Valley.

His wife, Mrs. Rose Williamson, preceded him in death on June 9, 1944.
He was born in Chapel Hill, Missouri, May 10, 1868,
He lived on a farm in Odessa, Missouri with his family and at the
age of 14 he headed West.

He was among the hardy men who went to the Yukon during the Alaska gold
rush days. Known as Jack to his many friends, he lived an active life,
spending most of the last 45 years in Santa Cruz County, except for an a interval in
Globe, Arizona. He died Saturday afternoon at 6 o�clock at the home of
his daughter, Mrs. John McClung after an illness of about a month.
. His three daughters, Mrs. McClung and Mrs. Merna Farris
of Nogales, and Mrs. Rose Buchanan of Ft. Worth Texas, were with him.

Also surviving him are a brother, Sidney Williamson, Odessa, Mo.,
five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Here for the
funeral were three nieces from Missouri, Mrs. Mory Ewing, Napoleon;
Mrs. Aubrey Williamson, Kansas City; and Miss Pearl Williamson,
of Odessa.

Active pallbearers were John McDonald, Dave Jones, Frank Lamma,
J.J. Lowe, Art Peck and Hi Sorrells. Honorary pallbearers included
Tom Heady, John Jones, Ray Blabon, Bert Blabon, George
Bercich, Blain Lewis, Charles May, Ernest Best, Pete Bergier,
Mal Eason, Lee Farrell, Richard Kunde, Reagen Gardner,
William Anderson, Sr., Gordon Farley, Pat Downey, Marshall Ashburn,
Harry Fryer, Ed. Woods, Buel Hutchinson, James Fraizer, Buster
Pyeatt, Jack Turner, Henry Wood, Albert Gatlin and Fred Jastram.
