He was man of breadth, distinction, and humor, garnering four Emmys for television writing, BMI awards for songwriting, and in 1982 a number-three Billboard hit country record " Listen to the Radio" sung by Don Williams. Three other top one hundred country hits followed in the next five years. He released two CDs, Swimming with Tigers (2012) and 9 Ninety 9 (2016). In 2015 he was interviewed about his creative career in a podcast. A playful comedic wit, Fred had a second career as Dr. Merlin F. Ludiker - an expert in all fields and entertaining law firms and conventions of lawyers nationwide. His website contains links to some of his work.
Fred was a loving son, husband, father, granddad, and friend. In true form, in his final days, he asked that his memoir be titled Little Else.
